HÁKONAR HIGHLAND RIM KINDRED

Living the Old Norse Tradition

Discover Our Fellowship

Welcome

Welcome to Hákonar Highland Rim Kindred (HHRK).

We are a local kindred devoted to the practice, study, and stewardship of the Old Norse religious tradition. Inspired by the example of Hákon the Good, we seek to cultivate honor, frith, hospitality, and lifelong learning while building a spiritual household rooted in mutual respect and shared troth. Whether you are exploring the Old Ways for the first time or seeking a spiritual home, we invite you to learn more about our community.

Our Mission

Hákonar Highland Rim Kindred exists to revere the Gods, honor our ancestors, respect the landvættir, and carry forward the Old Norse religious tradition through study, blóts, sumbels, seasonal holy tides, service, and fellowship.

"We are not keepers of a relic, but stewards of a living tradition."

As the Highland Rim Kindred of Hákonarætt, we are committed to building a faithful, stable, and enduring religious community for Middle Tennessee—living with honor, cultivating frith, practicing hospitality, and leaving a worthy legacy for future generations.

VII. Learn Without Ceasing

VIII. Live with Courage and Restraint

IX. Build the Kindred

Our Theological Vision

We seek to understand and experience the divine through the symbols, stories, language, and sacred imagination of the Old Norse tradition.

We believe the Old Norse tradition offers a rich and enduring way of encountering the sacred. Rather than merely reconstructing the past or reenacting history, we seek to faithfully live the tradition today.

The Eddas, sagas, language, symbols, rituals, and worldview of our forebears provide the lens through which we revere the Gods, honor our ancestors, respect the landvættir, and cultivate lives of honor, frith, hospitality, and wisdom.

The Old Norse tradition invites us not merely to inherit the past, but to remember a way of seeing that still speaks to the present.

"Some things you don't learn. You choose to remember."

Our Inspiration

King Hákon the Good

HHRK draws inspiration from the legacy of Hákon the Good, remembered in the sagas as a ruler who sought to lead with courage, wisdom, and a spirit of reconciliation during a time of religious change. His example encourages us to live our tradition with integrity while extending hospitality and respect to others.
